The firm’s entry into Hong Kong brings its total global footprint to six markets. Since its 2016 inception in Northern Ireland, Causeway Securities has established operations in London, South Africa, the UAE, the European Union, and the United States. CEO Conor O’Donnell cited the region’s massive transaction volumes, which frequently eclipse those of the combined American and European markets, as a primary driver for the expansion.
Causeway Securities Gains Regulatory Foothold in Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission has granted approval-in-principle to Causeway Securities (HK) Limited, marking a strategic expansion for the Belfast-founded firm. This move positions the structured investment specialist to begin serving professional and institutional clients across the Asia-Pacific region once full authorization arrives.
Edward Liu, who serves as Asia CEO, emphasized the firm’s positioning as a strictly independent, pure-play specialist, noting that it operates without a competing wealth management arm. As the subsidiary prepares for its launch, the group maintains existing regulatory ties with the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Portugal’s CMVM, and the Dubai International Financial Centre.
