Unveiled at the Air & Space Forces Association Air, Space & Cyber Conference, the C165 is designed as a pin-compatible successor to Aitech’s earlier C164 and C163 models. By utilizing the 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185GRE Tiger Lake UP3 processor, the board provides double the CPU performance-per-watt and over two-and-a-half times the graphics capability of previous generations. This shift enables integrators to support intensive workloads like video analytics and sensor-driven ISR processing without migrating to a new architecture.
Aitech Targets Aging Defense Hardware with C165 VME Board
Military programs tethered to legacy VME architectures face a persistent dilemma: how to integrate modern computing power without the prohibitive cost of a complete platform redesign. Aitech’s new C165 rugged 6U single board computer offers a bridge, allowing defense teams to upgrade performance while retaining existing infrastructure.

Beyond raw processing power, the unit addresses modern security mandates. It features up to 4TB of self-encrypted NVMe storage and integrates the AiSecure framework, which includes TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Intel Boot Guard. According to Aitech product manager Alex Trigoub, this approach allows customers to mitigate obsolescence risks and extend the operational life of air, land, and naval platforms. Available now, the C165 comes in both air-cooled and conduction-cooled variants to meet the diverse environmental demands of aerospace and defense applications.
