Q32 Bio Expands Leadership Team to Accelerate Alopecia Therapy

Q32 Bio has appointed José Trevejo as Chief Medical Officer and Ellie Hershberger as Chief Development Officer, signaling a shift toward late-stage clinical operations for its lead candidate, bempikibart. The company plans to move the drug into a registration-directed program for severe alopecia areata by early 2027.

The new appointments bring decades of experience to the Waltham-based biotech firm. Dr. Trevejo, a physician-scientist, previously led clinical pipeline strategy at Enveda Therapeutics and oversaw the FDA approval of XDEMVY at Tarsus Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Hershberger, a drug development veteran with over 30 years in the field, joins from Invivyd, where she managed late-stage development and helped secure significant capital through a successful initial public offering.

CEO Jodie Morrison noted that the company is at a pivotal transition point. Bempikibart, a fully human anti-IL-7Rα antibody, has demonstrated promising hair regrowth and safety profiles in the SIGNAL-AA Phase 2 program. The new leadership team will focus on scaling the development infrastructure required to advance the therapy through registration and explore its potential application in broader autoimmune populations.
