Maura Burns, who retired in 2025 as the Chief Operating Officer of the Central Intelligence Agency, has joined the board of advisors at Austin-based SAGINT. She will guide the company in refining its digital verification standards for critical material supply chains as federal regulations on origin reporting tighten.
SAGINT specializes in Digital Warehouse Receipts, which use producer process data to track material origin, custody, and assay rather than relying on static documentation. According to CEO Jacob Clayton, the company seeks to replace traditional trust-based trade systems with verifiable, computed evidence. Burns noted that her interest in the firm stems from the technical challenge of validating claims in environments where actors often attempt to obfuscate details. Her appointment follows a July 2026 executive order requiring prime contractors to map supply chains back to the raw material level, a move that places significant pressure on current industry compliance frameworks.
