ALPHA CENTAURI Trades Law for Rhythm in Debut Album

A licensed lawyer who walked away from a legal career in Zimbabwe to pursue music, ALPHA CENTAURI has released his debut album, The Future Right Now. The ten-track collection blends funk, Afrobeat, and jazz, marking the culmination of a five-year transition from courtroom to stage for the Vancouver-based artist.

Recorded live with an eight-piece band, the album serves as a definitive statement on the artist's evolution. The project features previously released singles like "Never Be" and "We Rise," tracks that showcase a technical approach to lyricism rooted in his background in English literature. ALPHA CENTAURI credits his time as a breakdancer with the Blade Squad for his initial understanding of rhythm, a skill he now maps onto hip-hop production.

The thematic core of the record centers on personal agency and social observation. One standout track, "Expect Us," draws directly from his experiences supporting activist Evan Mawarire during campaigns against corruption in Zimbabwe. Having already shared stages with artists like Method Man, Redman, and Chali 2na, ALPHA CENTAURI is positioning this release as both a technical showcase and a call for listeners to find their own narratives within his work.
