When We All Vote Taps Content Creators to Mobilize Gen Z Voters

On National Voter Registration Day, the nonpartisan initiative When We All Vote launched the Voting Squad, a network of social media creators tasked with reaching 20 million young voters. The campaign aims to bypass traditional information barriers by meeting Gen Z where they already spend their time: their curated feeds.

The Voting Squad includes figures such as Joel Bervell, J.C. Carter, and Gabriel Zamora. These creators are leveraging their personal platforms to disseminate state-specific election deadlines, clarify registration procedures, and highlight ballot issues. The initiative addresses a persistent participation gap; in 2024, more than half of eligible young voters failed to cast a ballot, often citing confusion or a lack of accessible, verified information.

"We are bringing voting exactly where young people are—from their FYPs to their favorite creators," said Kalisha Dessources Figures, senior advisor at When We All Vote. With nearly 50 million Gen Zers eligible for the upcoming midterm elections, the organization is pairing this creator network with brand partnerships, including a collaborative song with the musical Hamilton and specialized registration drives with retail brands like Clare V and The Ordinary. The effort marks a strategic shift toward influencer-led civic engagement to close the age and racial voting disparity.
