Orion Space Solutions will manufacture and calibrate its Spectre Electro-Optical Infrared (EO/IR) units, which represent a significant technical evolution from the company's previous 8-channel platforms. These upgraded sensors are engineered to detect a wider spectrum of atmospheric and environmental features, facilitating higher resolution data collection. Supplementing the optical imaging, the T3 radio frequency suite utilizes GNSS-RO and GNSS-R technologies to provide the atmospheric density required for Tomorrow.io’s predictive weather modeling.
Arcfield to Supply Advanced Sensor Payloads for Tomorrow.io DeepSky
With over $60 million in initial awards already secured, Arcfield subsidiary Orion Space Solutions is set to provide the critical sensor hardware for Tomorrow.io’s DeepSky weather satellite constellation. The contract tasks Orion with delivering upgraded Spectre EO/IR payloads and T3 radio frequency sensor suites for global monitoring.

Kevin Kelly, chairman and CEO of Arcfield, noted that the collaboration aims to transform how industries and government agencies anticipate severe weather events. The initiative aligns with Tomorrow.io's strategy to deploy a commercial constellation capable of delivering high-frequency observations at a reduced cost-per-scan. As the program progresses through batch deliveries, the contract value is expected to exceed $100 million, supporting missions ranging from maritime safety and agricultural planning to defense-related in-theater forecasting.
