New Campaign Targets 115 Million Americans Living With Prediabetes

With over 115.2 million American adults currently living with prediabetes, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Ad Council have launched a national campaign dubbed "Undo It." The initiative urges the public to assess their health risks before the condition progresses into type 2 diabetes.

Prediabetes often presents without visible symptoms, leaving the vast majority of those affected unaware of their status. The condition significantly elevates the risk for heart attack and stroke, yet medical research confirms that early lifestyle interventions—specifically improved nutrition, increased physical activity, and weight management—can effectively reverse the condition.

Developed by the agency Avoq, the campaign emphasizes that while many life events are irreversible, prediabetes is an exception. Residents are encouraged to utilize a one-minute risk assessment at DoIHavePrediabetes.org. Those scoring five or higher are advised to consult a physician for blood work and potentially enroll in the CDC’s National Diabetes Prevention Program. Since the campaign's inception in 2016, it has facilitated more than 30 million online risk test completions and generated nearly 330,000 referrals to the lifestyle change program. The PSAs will circulate nationwide in both English and Spanish across broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
