Steering committee members include the academic research institute Mila and the Omidyar Network. The group provides members with high-trust resources, including intelligence sharing, ecosystem mapping, and legislative tracking for over 500 tech bills. According to CEO Tomicah Tillemann, the organization has already expanded across four continents, aiming to provide a centralized counterweight to the handful of companies currently dictating the pace of innovation.
Global Coalition Launches to Wrest AI Control from Big Tech
Following a week marked by high-profile resignations and warnings of rogue AI agents, more than 50 organizations have formed the Pro-Human AI Coalition. The new nonprofit seeks to shift the industry focus from corporate profit to human agency, deploying shared infrastructure to influence policy and reshape AI development.
The coalition’s work spans five core pillars, ranging from the development of a 'Pro-Human AI Stack' to market-shaping economic strategies. Legislative efforts have already yielded results, with bipartisan bills passed in Utah, California, Ohio, Connecticut, and South Dakota. These efforts are designed to remain effective regardless of shifting political majorities in Washington. Looking toward the June 2027 Geneva AI Summit, the group is drafting cornerstone policies addressing data portability, developer liability, and child safety. As Executive Director Lara Galinsky noted, the initiative is built on the premise that current AI outcomes are the result of specific choices, not inevitable technological evolution.
