This oversight is costly; 43% of respondents report that home damage is occurring more frequently than five years ago, yet essential supplies are often unorganized or inaccessible when the wind dies down.

Homeowners are eager to act, with 58% comfortable sealing minor leaks and 46% willing to secure broken windows themselves. However, the reliance on improper materials remains a major hurdle. While 69% of emergency kits contain standard duct tape, only 37% include specialized waterproof repair tape designed for extreme conditions. Data shows that 75% of Americans have been forced to use duct tape simply because it was the only item available, often leading to secondary damage when the temporary fix fails to hold against moisture or temperature fluctuations.
