Caturus Plans Massive Commonwealth LNG Expansion in Louisiana
Caturus is set to nearly double the capacity of its Commonwealth LNG export terminal, announcing a 7.75 million tonnes per annum expansion project in Cameron Parish. This move brings the facility’s total planned output to 17.25 Mtpa, signaling a major increase in U.S. natural gas export capabilities for global markets.
CEO David Lawler noted that the expansion is designed to meet the growing global demand for reliable, affordable energy. Caturus currently stands as the only independent U.S. firm with an integrated wellhead-to-water platform, controlling the entire process from gas production in South Texas to liquefaction and terminal operations in Louisiana. Backed by institutional partners including Kimmeridge, Mubadala Energy, and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, the company aims to provide long-term supply certainty for industrial buyers while continuing its engagement with stakeholders in Cameron Parish.
