Nord Anglia Education appoints LEGO veteran as Chief Learning Officer

Bo Stjerne Thomsen, a prominent learning science expert formerly of LEGO Education, will join Nord Anglia Education as Chief Learning Officer on October 1, 2026. He joins the executive committee to bridge the gap between academic research and classroom practice across the organization's network of 37 countries.

Thomsen arrives as Nord Anglia pushes to integrate artificial intelligence into its pedagogical framework. CEO Andrew Fitzmaurice noted that the appointment aims to inject scientific rigor into the school group’s strategy, focusing on balancing technical fluency with human-centric skills like creativity and collaboration. Thomsen will lead the organization's global education strategy, overseeing how research is scaled across more than 100,000 students.

Previously the Head of Educational Impact at LEGO Education, Thomsen brings an extensive background in research and global policy. He holds a PhD from Aalborg University and has advised major international bodies including the UN, the OECD, and the World Economic Forum. His mandate at Nord Anglia involves identifying and implementing best practices while navigating the rapid evolution of educational technology.
