A 50.4% drop in accident claims at high-risk intersections highlights the results of Ping An Insurance’s “Traffic Lights” program. By shifting from reactive compensation to proactive, technology-led risk mitigation, the group has upgraded thousands of dangerous road sections across China using real-time data and intelligent infrastructure.
Technological integration has proven vital during extreme conditions. In Guizhou, the deployment of IoT-enabled meteorological stations provides authorities with real-time alerts for ice and fog, while drone patrols in Hunan use BeiDou navigation to manage expressway incidents and prevent secondary accidents. During the 2026 Spring Festival travel rush, these interventions contributed to a 50.4% reduction in claims at monitored intersections, alongside a nearly 20% decline in average property loss per claim. Beyond infrastructure, the program includes a massive public outreach component, with educational campaigns reaching approximately 690 million people.
