The plant, a partnership between GAC and TH Group, represents the culmination of a project launched in 2024. Under the agreement, TH Group manages the physical infrastructure and assembly operations, while GAC provides the knockdown kits, technical oversight, and manufacturing standards. The facility is engineered for an annual capacity of 10,000 units.
GAC Launches Vehicle Assembly Plant in Cambodia
Prime Minister Hun Manet joined Chinese officials in Kampong Chhnang on September 17 to inaugurate GAC’s new knockdown assembly plant. The facility marks a strategic pivot for the Chinese automaker, shifting from simple vehicle exports to domestic production in a move designed to accelerate Cambodia’s shift toward high-tech industrial manufacturing.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that the project serves as a catalyst for the nation’s economic evolution. By moving away from labor-intensive work toward capital- and skill-driven sectors, the government aims to boost the added value of its domestic economy. This transition follows a period of rapid market growth for the brand; GAC’s TRUMPCHI line recorded a compound annual growth rate exceeding 300% over the last three years, securing the top spot among Chinese automotive brands in Cambodia in 2025.
