Hefei Hosts Global Manufacturing Summit as Anhui Industrial Output Soars

Under the banner of intelligent production, the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention kicked off in Hefei this weekend, drawing over 1,000 global delegates. With the United Kingdom serving as the guest of honor, the eighth iteration of the event underscores Anhui’s aggressive pivot toward high-tech industrial integration and digital transformation.

The scale of the gathering is reflected in the 70,000-square-meter exhibition space at Luogang Park, which spotlights unmanned systems and facilitates industrial matchmaking across European and British partnerships. This year, organizers have identified 946 cooperation projects totaling over 400 billion yuan, signaling a robust appetite for investment in emerging sectors.

Anhui’s manufacturing engine is currently operating at its fastest pace in nearly five years. Between January and July, the value added of large-scale industrial enterprises climbed 12.7 percent, while industrial profits surged by 63.5 percent to 195.9 billion yuan. These gains are driven by a sharp focus on strategic industries: production of new energy vehicles, integrated circuits, and robotics rose by 27.5, 28.6, and 32.8 percent respectively.

Beyond current output, the province has digitized 17,000 industrial enterprises and cultivated eight "lighthouse factories" to anchor its supply chain strategy. Looking ahead, provincial leadership intends to leverage these gains to build trillion-yuan manufacturing clusters, with a specific mandate to scale quantum technology, hydrogen energy, and biomanufacturing sectors to solidify its position in the global market.
