Precure Taps Helix for Million-Sample Genomic Initiative

The initiative, which follows the recent launch of the Mayo Clinic-controlled Precure, LLC, seeks to transform disease prevention by creating a massive, actionable repository of biological insights. By utilizing clinical whole genome sequencing and research-grade proteome sequencing, the partnership aims to provide a diagnostic baseline that informs patient care throughout a lifetime. Aaron Mangold, chief medical officer of Precure, highlighted the goal of making molecular data a foundational element of clinical practice to enable earlier medical interventions.

To manage this scale, the project will integrate Ultima Genomics' UG200 Ultra Sequencing Platform alongside Helix’s existing infrastructure for workflow orchestration and AI-driven analysis. This expansion builds upon previous efforts that utilized Helix’s Exome+ technology. James Lu, CEO of Helix, noted that the infrastructure is designed to turn the genome into an enduring resource, bridging the gap between high-throughput laboratory processing and practical clinical application. Mayo Clinic intends to reinvest any financial proceeds from this venture directly back into its research, education, and patient care mission.
