Sarah Leary Named Co-Chair of Children's Brain Tumor Network

Dr. Leary brings a deep background in translational research and international data sharing to the role, having served as a longtime investigator within the CBTN. Her work at the University of Washington School of Medicine and the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research has centered on bridging the gap between molecular diagnostics and bedside care. According to CBTN Scientific Director Dr. Adam Resnick, her appointment is pivotal for scaling the network’s vision of learning from every child rather than limiting data collection to clinical trial participants.

The organization is currently scaling its digital infrastructure through initiatives like RADIANT and the Pediatric Care eXpansion program. These tools aim to integrate molecular, imaging, and clinical outcomes data across a growing network that now includes 35 institutions and data from over 9,000 patients. In her new capacity, Dr. Leary will manage scientific objectives and strengthen collaborative ties with the Children’s Oncology Group and the National Cancer Institute’s Childhood Cancer Data Initiative. Her leadership is expected to facilitate a more rapid application of real-world evidence to clinical decision-making across nearly 200 pediatric hospital sites.
