The certification, utilizing Infineon’s TEGRION SLI22 security controller, allows vehicle manufacturers to maintain consistent security protocols across infotainment, telematics, and industrial fleet systems. This common architecture aims to reduce technical fragmentation, enabling OEMs to manage long-term vehicle lifecycles that often span over a decade. By integrating SGP.32 v1.3, the platform introduces critical capabilities such as direct profile downloads and emergency profile handling, which are essential for modern software-defined mobility.
Kigen secures first GSMA automotive eSIM certification for SGP.32
Cambridge-based Kigen has achieved the industry's first GSMA eUICC Security Assurance (eSA) certification for its automotive eSIMs, marking a significant shift in vehicle connectivity. By supporting the latest SGP.32 v1.3 specification, the company provides automakers with a standardized, future-proof architecture designed to withstand quantum-era security threats.

Beyond current standards, Kigen is addressing the long-term risk of quantum computing. The company’s implementation supports hybrid key encapsulation, allowing manufacturers to test post-quantum cryptographic communications today. This proactive approach is intended to mitigate the risk of architectural obsolescence in vehicles where physical hardware replacement is impractical. Kigen plans to make these Automotive eSIMs available for OEM sampling in the ETSI MFF2 package starting in October 2026, supported by an ecosystem that currently includes over 20 network providers and 60 validated IoT modules.
