Armata Pharmaceuticals Secures $3.7 Million for Phase 3 Bacteriophage Trial
Armata Pharmaceuticals has received $3.7 million in additional non-dilutive funding from the U.S. Department of War to accelerate the Phase 3 development of its lead therapeutic candidate, AP-SA02. This latest infusion brings the total federal investment in the program to $32.4 million as the company targets complicated staph infections.
Dr. Deborah Birx, CEO of Armata, stated that the ongoing federal commitment validates the necessity of exploring novel alternatives to traditional antibiotics. The company intends to leverage this support to transition the program from its previous clinical successes into a pivotal superiority study, which is currently slated to begin in the second half of 2026. The therapy has already secured Fast Track, Breakthrough Therapy, and Qualified Infectious Disease Product designations from the FDA following positive results from the Phase 2a diSArm trial.
