The move is designed to maintain the FAM’s long-standing operational history with the Hercules platform while modernizing its ability to handle diverse tactical requirements.
Mexico Bolsters Air Mobility with Second C-130J Super Hercules
Mexico has secured a second C-130J-30 Super Hercules from Lockheed Martin, reinforcing its position as the first Latin American nation to integrate the advanced tactical airlifter into its fleet. This acquisition builds on the initial delivery from January 2026, significantly expanding the country’s regional humanitarian and strategic airlift capacity.
This expanded capacity arrives as Mexico takes a more active role in regional crisis response. Following the recent earthquakes in Venezuela, the first C-130J-30 was deployed to transport medical aid and personnel to the affected areas. With the arrival of the second aircraft, the FAM can now sustain these humanitarian missions for longer durations and across broader distances. Trish Pagan, vice president of Air Mobility & Maritime Missions at Lockheed Martin, noted that the investment highlights the platform’s interoperability with U.S. and allied forces, setting a new benchmark for tactical readiness in Latin America.
