This decentralized model allows local managers to identify and support the pantries, meal programs, and community centers most vital to their immediate surroundings. Recipients this year range from the Knoxville Senior Center to the Foodbank of Somerset County in New Jersey.
Hormel Foods Distributes $332,000 to Combat Domestic Food Insecurity
To mark Hunger Action Month, Hormel Foods has funneled $332,000 in cash donations to over 40 local hunger-relief organizations across its American production network. The initiative empowers individual plant teams to address specific food insecurity challenges within the communities where their staff live and work.
Will Bonifant, chief supply chain officer at Hormel, noted that local organizations act as the frontline defense against a persistent national issue. Beyond this specific September push, the corporation maintains a broader commitment to food security, having contributed more than $53.6 million in cash and product donations since 2020. These ongoing efforts include partnerships with Feeding America and Convoy of Hope, alongside regional programs that distribute products like CURE 81 hams throughout the year.
