With the Tennessee Department of Health confirming nine cases of measles, CVS Health has moved to bolster public protection. The company is highlighting the availability of the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine at its 134 pharmacy locations statewide, urging residents to verify their immunization status as the highly contagious virus spreads.
While the vaccine is most effective as a preventive measure, it can offer some protection if administered within 72 hours of exposure. CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations are currently equipped to provide doses for patients aged three and older. Although walk-ins are permitted, the company recommends scheduling appointments via the CVS website or mobile app to guarantee supply. Officials note that individuals born before 1957 or those who have already received two documented doses are generally considered immune, though specific groups like international travelers or health care workers may require boosters.
