The project serves as a digital conduit for the Korean won, focusing on international institutions that trade and hedge currency exposure outside of domestic borders. By creating a transparent, onchain representation of the currency, KRWQ intends to increase demand for Korean government securities and financial assets. The company is currently exploring the tokenization of Korean Treasury Bonds to bolster its reserve framework, effectively embedding high-quality domestic debt into its global digital offering.
KRWQ Targets Global Markets to Boost Korean Won Liquidity
With EDX Markets recently listing the asset for both spot and perpetual trading, KRWQ is positioning its blockchain-based infrastructure to bridge the gap between offshore demand and the Korean won. The firm aims to move non-deliverable forward markets onchain, targeting institutional access in financial hubs like London and Singapore.

Operating primarily within offshore financial centers, KRWQ excludes South Korean retail users from its current scope. The infrastructure relies on LayerZero’s OFT standard for multichain settlement, prioritizing compliance with evolving international standards. As Seoul develops its formal regulatory framework for won-denominated stablecoins, the firm plans to align its growth with local mandates, framing its existence as a tool to strengthen the won’s utility in the global financial system rather than a replacement for existing domestic banking channels.
