People Incorporated Abandons Bid to Acquire MGM Resorts

People Incorporated has officially withdrawn its June 1 proposal to acquire the outstanding shares of MGM Resorts International. The move ends months of negotiations between the gaming giant and the bidder, leaving MGM to continue its operations as an independent, standalone company under its existing leadership.

A special committee of the MGM Resorts Board had been engaged in discussions with People Incorporated for several months to evaluate the offer. With the proposal now off the table, the company intends to double down on its current strategic roadmap. Paul Salem, Chairman of the Board, noted that the firm will leverage its dominant footprint in Las Vegas and its regional property portfolio to drive growth.

Beyond domestic operations, the company is prioritizing momentum within its BetMGM venture and its international interests, specifically the MGM China portfolio and the upcoming integrated resort project in Osaka. These assets form the core of the company's plan to boost shareholder value without external acquisition.
