TrinaTracker Expands Solar Ecosystem with BUILDEX and AURORA Robots

TrinaTracker, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, has unveiled two proprietary robotic systems designed to automate the installation and maintenance of large-scale photovoltaic power plants. The launch of the BUILDEX installation unit and the AURORA cleaning robot signals the company's shift toward becoming a comprehensive provider of smart energy and robotics solutions.

TrinaTracker Expands Solar Ecosystem with BUILDEX and AURORA Robots

The BUILDEX installation robot addresses the traditional reliance on manual labor, which often leads to inconsistent precision and safety concerns in solar field construction. By utilizing industrial 3D cameras and AI-driven vision algorithms, the unit achieves millimeter-level accuracy during module placement. It is capable of installing up to 90 modules per hour, a rate three to four times faster than conventional manual methods. Designed for versatility, the robot features a height-adjustable base that accommodates both 1P and 2P configurations, maintaining stable operation on slopes up to 17 degrees.

Complementing the construction phase, the AURORA cleaning robot is engineered to maintain energy yields by mitigating the impact of dust and environmental debris on module surfaces. The system employs self-correcting algorithms to navigate height offsets of up to 50 mm, ensuring continuous, non-damaging cleaning across varied landscapes. Powered by integrated PV modules, AURORA operates autonomously, performing cyclic cleaning routines that reduce the need for human intervention in harsh outdoor environments.

These additions to the company's portfolio serve to integrate physical hardware with digital twin technology. By connecting construction automation and routine operations, TrinaTracker aims to optimize the lifecycle of solar assets and lower the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE). The data gathered from these robotic deployments will be used to refine AI algorithms, further enhancing the adaptability of the company's "Tracker+" ecosystem for complex terrain and extreme weather conditions.
