Applied Optoelectronics Previews 3.0GHz Network Tech at SCTE TechExpo
While the cable industry remains focused on 1.8GHz DOCSIS 4.0 deployments, Applied Optoelectronics is pushing the horizon further. The company will debut a live 3.0GHz proof-of-concept demonstration at the upcoming SCTE TechExpo in Atlanta, providing a first look at the hardware required for the next generation of broadband spectrum.
To accompany the hardware preview, the company released a white paper titled "Beyond 1.8 GHz: Evaluating Paths to 3.0 GHz HFC Networks." The document outlines a decision framework for infrastructure evolution, emphasizing the need for flexible amplifier architectures and modernized outside plant designs. According to Corey Chapman, Senior Director of Product Management for AOI’s Broadband Access Business Unit, engaging with these engineering hurdles now is essential, as the transition will require significant shifts in power demands and mechanical tolerances. The demo will be hosted at booth H1448 from September 29 through October 2.
