The project operates in collaboration with Grupo Robinson, a local business group tasked with providing regional expertise and production oversight. Plans involve shifting away from raw material extraction by processing timber directly within Paraguay. This strategy aims to foster local industrialization and ensure that value-added finished products reach both domestic and global markets, with capital deployment scheduled to commence in early 2027.
J.P. Morgan and Paraguay Launch $200 Million Forestry Initiative
A $200 million investment aimed at sustainable forestry in Paraguay was unveiled this week at the Paraguay Investment Forum in New York. The partnership between the Paraguayan government and J.P. Morgan Natural Capital seeks to establish a large-scale platform for timber production, carbon credit generation, and native forest restoration.

President Santiago Peña emphasized that the initiative serves the dual purpose of rural economic development and environmental stewardship. For J.P. Morgan Natural Capital, which manages over 1.5 million acres of forestland globally, the project represents a scalable model for nature-based assets. CEO Angela Davis noted that the venture aligns with the firm's broader focus on sustainable resource management, creating rural employment opportunities while integrating Paraguayan capabilities with international institutional capital.
