iQIYI Pivots to AI-Driven Production with 350-Title Slate

At the iJOY Conference in Shanghai, Chinese streaming leader iQIYI unveiled a massive slate of 350 new titles for 2026–2027. The company is betting its future on a comprehensive AI strategy, aiming to integrate generative tools into professional long-form content while launching seven new creator service programs to expand its ecosystem.

Founder and CEO Yu Gong outlined three pillars for this shift: scaling AI-assisted live-action production, fostering a sustainable creator community, and pioneering new formats. Central to this strategy is the upcoming release of Immortals Over Mortal Love, the platform's first hybrid AI multi-season drama. Produced via the proprietary NadouPro platform, the series represents a move to standardize AIGC in high-end, long-form storytelling. The company has already seen commercial success with this approach, citing The Ferry Man series, which recouped its production costs within one week of release.

Chief Content Officer Xiaohui Wang identified a shift toward a 'Platinum era,' where emotional value and niche demand redefine success. To capitalize on this, iQIYI is diversifying its output to include branded short-form theaters and animation, while leveraging partnerships like the one with Douyin for variety programming. Beyond production, the platform is overhauling its advertising model, deploying a data-driven system for household terminals that targets family consumption patterns. As part of its annual industry presence, the company confirmed that the 2026 iQIYI Scream Night will return to the Galaxy Arena in Macao on December 5, marking the start of a new three-year residency.
