By covering all education and certification costs, the program allows up to 30 spouses annually to earn the Accredited Financial Counselor designation. This credential provides a portable career option that remains viable despite frequent relocations and deployments.
AFCPE Wins 2026 Summit Award for Military Spouse Fellowship
The American Society of Association Executives has honored the Association of Financial Counseling, Planning, and Education with a 2026 Power of Associations Summit Award. The recognition highlights the organization's efforts to provide portable, credentialed career pathways for military spouses while addressing financial instability within military communities.
Since its inception in 2006, the fellowship has supported 743 participants who have gone on to provide financial education to more than 288,000 military families. Beyond the training, the initiative connects graduates to the Society of FINRA Foundation Fellows, an alumni network that offers ongoing peer support and leadership opportunities. ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason noted that the fellowship serves as a model for how organizations can unite stakeholders to address complex societal challenges through sustained collaboration and commitment.
