The U.S. Postal Service unveiled a commemorative pane of stamps today at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, celebrating the multifaceted life of Linda McCartney. The collection features her evocative still life and landscape photography, highlighting a career that spanned from pioneering rock-and-roll portraiture to influential animal rights advocacy.
The new pane includes 20 stamps showcasing five distinct photographs, ranging from a 1984 black-and-white study of a horse in Sussex to vibrant still lifes of sunflowers and carnations. Beyond her lens, McCartney’s influence extended to the music industry as a member of Wings and to the culinary world, where she helped popularize vegetarianism through her bestselling cookbooks and the launch of her own food brand in 1991. The stamps, designed by USPS art director Derry Noyes, serve as a permanent archive of the intimate, joyful aesthetic that defined her work until her death in 1998.
