The funding sustains critical D.C. health initiatives, specifically targeting prenatal care for mothers, infant development, and mobile pediatric services for families navigating systemic barriers in the nation’s capital.
Simultaneously, the donation bolsters the Kids Mobile Medical Clinic, a fixture in Wards 6 and 7 for over three decades. The clinic operates two units that provide primary care to roughly 800 patients annually at no cost to families. These mobile teams screen patients for food insecurity and housing instability, effectively bringing a safety net directly into neighborhoods. Since 2019, Monumental Sports and the Leonsis family have contributed over $13 million to MedStar Health, covering projects ranging from pandemic response to specialized sports medicine.
