Gotion Launches Africa’s Largest Energy Storage Project in Egypt

Fifty heavy-duty trucks rolled out from Gotion’s Jinzhai and Nantong facilities on September 28, marking the start of a rapid delivery for Africa’s largest standalone energy storage project. The shipment, completed just three months after the contract signing, signals a major expansion of the company’s infrastructure into the Egyptian market.

The units are destined for the Nefertiti and Horus projects, which serve as critical infrastructure for Egypt's 2030 clean energy goals. Developed by AMEA Power and constructed by the China Energy Engineering Group, these facilities are designed to stabilize the grid by integrating renewable energy from the Benban solar park and the Zafarana wind farm.

Gotion Grid systems feature full DC-to-AC integration, encompassing in-house cells, battery management systems, and transformers. Engineers specifically hardened the hardware to withstand extreme heat, sandstorms, and salt fog. According to the company, the systems provide millisecond-level response times and high-voltage stability to manage peak-shaving requirements effectively.

"This shipment opens a new stage of broader cooperation," stated Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power. Li Chen, Senior Vice President of Gotion, noted that the project underscores the firm's ability to execute end-to-end delivery and commit to long-term operations in the Middle East and North Africa.
