Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery Set October Closing for Merger

The long-awaited consolidation of two media giants is nearing its conclusion. Paramount Skydance Corporation and Warner Bros. Discovery have pegged October 6, 2026, as the anticipated closing date for their merger, pending the final satisfaction of standard regulatory and operational conditions.

Under the terms established in the February 27 merger agreement, the transition involves a cash conversion for outstanding shares. Shareholders of Warner Bros. Discovery are slated to receive $31.00 per share, plus a small incremental adjustment calculated based on the passage of time from the end of September through the eventual closing date. Should the deal finalize on the target date of October 6, the payout is set at $31.01666668 per share.

The merger brings together a vast catalog of intellectual property, uniting Paramount’s studio and television assets—including CBS, Nickelodeon, and Showtime—with Warner Bros. Discovery’s expansive portfolio, which features HBO, CNN, and the DC franchise. While the companies have moved to confirm the timeline, management notes that the completion remains subject to customary closing conditions and potential market fluctuations that could impact the final execution.
