iQIYI’s AIGC Film Series Hits RMB 8 Million Revenue Milestone

With the third installment of the 'The Ferry Man' series debuting October 1, iQIYI confirmed its AI-generated content model has cleared RMB 8 million in revenue-sharing. This commercial success validates a streamlined production cycle that moved from concept to screen in under four months, signaling a shift in Chinese digital filmmaking.

The series, produced alongside GHY Culture & Media, leverages artificial intelligence to render complex mythological imagery into cinematic worlds. According to producer Zhichao Li, the technology proved transformative during the preparation and production phases, allowing creative teams to generate visual assets for sets and props that would typically require months of labor-intensive green-screen work. By standardizing these digital assets, the studio has created a reusable library that ensures visual consistency across sequels while drastically lowering overhead costs.

Financial performance has mirrored these production gains. Under iQIYI’s revenue-sharing model, the films recouped their total production costs within the first week of release. This data-driven approach allows the production team to monitor market feedback in real time, enabling faster iterations for future projects. Following the earlier success of 'Mystic Tales - The Spider Lady’s Vendetta,' this latest milestone reinforces the platform's strategy of integrating AI into its long-form content pipeline to maintain a sustainable, high-velocity distribution model.
