This partnership addresses a critical infrastructure requirement for the development of the Shaakichiuwaanaan property. By utilizing Matagami’s existing transshipment yard, the company aims to create a consistent channel for its high-grade lithium output. The current arrangement focuses on defining the necessary infrastructure upgrades and operational frameworks required to handle the volume of material expected once production begins.
PMET Resources Secures Matagami Transshipment Deal for Lithium Project
PMET Resources has signed a letter of intent with the City of Matagami to establish a vital logistics link for its Shaakichiuwaanaan lithium project in Quebec. The agreement maps out a route to move spodumene concentrate by truck from the mine site to Matagami, where it will transition to rail for export.

Frédéric Mercier-Langevin, the company’s chief operating officer, emphasized that the collaboration is a central component of the broader logistics strategy. While the letter of intent outlines the operational principles, the parties have yet to finalize commercial terms. Final agreements regarding service pricing and specific infrastructure contributions remain under negotiation, with the company aiming to conclude these discussions before reaching a final investment decision for the project.
