MediaTek Debuts 5G-Advanced FWA Platform at Network X 2026

A 70% jump in uplink throughput and 40% higher downlink speeds define the latest Fixed Wireless Access platform from MediaTek. Unveiled at Network X 2026, the system integrates the T930 modem and Filogic 8800 chipsets to push AI-driven performance directly to the network edge, targeting improved capacity for global telecom operators.

The new architecture, showcased alongside subsidiary Airoha Technology in Vienna, aims to solve the persistent bottleneck of home and office broadband. By moving intelligence to the customer premises equipment (CPE), MediaTek is addressing the rising demand for gigabit bandwidth required by cloud gaming and real-time AI services. The T930 modem utilizes an 8Rx 3CC configuration to extend coverage while boosting downlink performance by over 40%. Simultaneously, the integration of HPUE PC1 and 3Tx 5L technologies increases transmission power by 5 dB, driving the 70% uplink throughput gain.

Beyond raw speed, the platform introduces AI-AQM (Active Queue Management), which optimizes traffic flows at the edge. Internal validation suggests this feature can reduce network latency for cloud gaming by up to 10x, providing operators a way to enhance service quality without costly overhauls to core network infrastructure. Evan Su, Vice President of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit, stated that these advancements allow providers to scale subscriber bases and improve efficiency while keeping upgrade expenses manageable. The platform is currently a finalist for the Network X Awards 2026 “Best FWA Solution of the Year” category.
