Universal Safety Products Rebrands to DeFi Capital Markets

Universal Safety Products is exiting the safety equipment industry to embrace blockchain-based finance. Starting October 19, 2026, the Owings Mills-based firm will operate as DeFi Capital Markets, Inc., transitioning its NYSE American listing to the ticker symbol DCM as it shifts focus toward asset tokenization and quantitative trading.

Universal Safety Products Rebrands to DeFi Capital Markets

The company’s pivot marks a complete departure from its legacy operations. Management plans to wind down the design and marketing of safety products, redirecting resources toward its subsidiary, Universal DeFi LLC. This division has spent the past year developing an invitation-only platform for tokenizing real-world assets and managing proprietary cryptocurrency market-making operations.

By integrating technology with its own capital, the firm aims to position itself as both a service provider for asset owners and an active participant in digital markets. This move aligns with broader industry projections, such as Citigroup’s estimate that tokenized assets could reach a market value of $5.5 trillion by 2030. The company’s strategy centers on creating an asset-rich platform that combines blockchain infrastructure, proprietary liquidity provision, and direct investment in tokenized securities.
