Dr. Shane Goodwin Joins Citizens Bank of Edmond Board

After three decades navigating the complexities of global finance and corporate governance, Dr. Shane Goodwin is shifting his focus to Oklahoma’s oldest community bank. The SMU professor and former Goldman Sachs executive joins the board of Citizens Bank of Edmond, tasked with steering the 125-year-old institution through its next strategic cycle.

Goodwin arrives with a resume spanning both the academy and the trading floor. Currently the Executive Director of the SMU Corporate Governance Initiative, he previously spent nearly 25 years in investment banking, holding senior positions at firms including Citigroup and Wells Fargo Securities. His track record includes advising on more than 250 mergers and acquisitions with a combined value exceeding $50 billion. Beyond his financial background, he holds credentials as a National Association of Corporate Directors Board Leadership Fellow.

Bank leadership sees this addition as a bridge between high-level institutional expertise and the bank's local mission. Jill Castilla, who reconnected with Goodwin through academic circles, emphasized that his appointment is intended to sharpen the board's decision-making as the bank balances modern financial growth with its long-standing roots in Edmond. Goodwin, an Oklahoma State Ph.D. holder and former professional athlete, will now apply his research in shareholder activism and regulatory policy to the bank’s ongoing efforts in community investment and small business support.
