Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy Acquires Nebraska Ethanol Plant
Southwest Iowa Renewable Energy has finalized the acquisition of the GreenAmerica Biofuels plant in Ord, Nebraska, from Pilot Travel Centers. The deal, which closed October 9, 2026, adds 70 million gallons of annual production capacity to the farmer-owned cooperative's portfolio, significantly expanding its footprint in the Midwest corn belt.

Management intends to retain the existing workforce at the Nebraska site and continue local grain purchasing operations. While the financial terms of the transaction remain confidential, the expansion provides SIRE with greater operational diversity and geographic reach. Legal advisory services for the acquisition were provided by the Omaha-based firm McGrath North Mullin & Kratz.
