Arena Physica brings Heaviside electromagnetic AI to Microsoft Discovery

Engineers designing everything from defense-grade antennas to semiconductor interconnects face a common bottleneck: waiting hours for traditional field solvers to verify performance. By integrating its Heaviside foundation model into Microsoft Discovery, Arena Physica aims to cut that verification cycle from days down to mere milliseconds.

Arena Physica brings Heaviside electromagnetic AI to Microsoft Discovery

Heaviside-1, a 350-million-parameter model, learns directly from Maxwell’s equations rather than relying on iterative computation. Trained on 250,000 3D field simulations, the model predicts electromagnetic responses with accuracy within a decibel of commercial tools. This speed allows engineers to swap slow, full-wave field solvers for real-time predictions during the design phase, reserving traditional software only for final validation.

For enterprise teams, the integration with Microsoft Discovery offers more than raw speed. The platform provides necessary governance, including audit logging and access controls, to protect sensitive intellectual property inherent in chip and hardware design. According to Arena Physica Chief Research Officer Michael Frei, this collaboration addresses a decades-old constraint where hardware development was gated by limited expert bandwidth and sluggish simulation cycles. Microsoft’s Preeth Chengappa noted that the partnership specifically targets critical bottlenecks in signal integrity and high-speed packaging, areas where electromagnetic verification currently hampers rapid prototyping.
