The integration of HSBC’s local business has propelled BNP Paribas to the position of fourth-largest private bank in Germany. Operating across 10 cities, including Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich, the firm is leveraging the wider group’s established infrastructure to capture market share among small and medium-sized enterprises. Lecomte maintains that the current footprint is insufficient, noting that the bank intends to increase its domestic investment significantly.
BNP Paribas Wealth Management Targets German Expansion
Following the acquisition of HSBC Private Bank’s German operations, CEO Vincent Lecomte is signaling a deeper push into the nation’s wealth sector. The bank now manages 50 billion euros in German assets, yet leadership views this milestone as merely the foundation for further growth among entrepreneurs and family offices.

Beyond Germany, the bank is prioritizing growth in France and Northern Italy, while simultaneously scaling its Asian operations. Asia now contributes over 20 percent of the firm’s total assets under management, with strong performances recorded in Taiwan and Thailand. Looking toward 2030, the firm’s strategy remains anchored in localized service for entrepreneurs across these key regions. Meanwhile, internal analysts remain bullish on tech-heavy emerging markets, specifically favoring equities in South Korea, Taiwan, and select Central and Eastern European nations like Poland.
