MediThinQ Enlists Synovis MCA for Global SHIYA Microsurgery Rollout

South Korean innovator MediThinQ has secured an exclusive multi-year distribution agreement with Synovis Micro Companies Alliance, a Baxter International subsidiary, to bring its SHIYA 3D surgical visualization platform to the global market, aiming to transition the field from traditional optical microscopes to digital, data-enabled environments.

MediThinQ Enlists Synovis MCA for Global SHIYA Microsurgery Rollout

The partnership leverages Synovis MCA’s three-decade history in microsurgical devices to scale the adoption of the SHIYA system, which replaces restrictive, fixed-eyepiece optical microscopes with a high-resolution digital exoscope and wearable SCOPEYE displays. By enabling a heads-up, ergonomic workflow, the platform allows an entire surgical team to view the same feed simultaneously, facilitating better collaboration and training. Beyond improved ergonomics, the shift to digital visualization allows for real-time capture and storage of surgical data, a prerequisite for future AI-driven and robotic-assisted procedures.

Clinical validation for the system has grown, with over 100 procedures performed globally. Research published in 2025 and 2026, including work by Prof. Joon-pio Hong and Dr. Hyung Bae Kim, highlights the platform's potential in supermicrosurgery and telemicrosurgery. While the commercial rollout will be phased to accommodate specific regulatory requirements in international markets, the collaboration positions MediThinQ to integrate its 3D Surgical Intelligence concept into mainstream practice. Michael Campbell, President of Synovis MCA, noted that the move aligns with his company's goal to provide safer, more efficient tools for complex reconstructive work.
