The institute’s growth trajectory follows a series of multi-million-dollar investments aimed at decentralizing care. Since 2020, Karmanos has added nearly 128,000 square feet of clinical space, establishing new outpatient centers in Dearborn and Roseville while expanding operations in cities like Flint and Lansing. This physical footprint now spans 17 locations, attracting patients from 39 states and several countries seeking specialized expertise.
Beyond facility expansion, the center has prioritized high-stakes clinical research to distinguish its service offerings. With an annual research budget exceeding $60 million, the organization has launched 609 clinical trials since 2020, enrolling over 2,700 patients. These efforts are bolstered by the recruitment of 43 prominent scientists and clinicians, including Dr. Boris Pasche and Dr. Azeddine Atfi, who lead multidisciplinary teams focused on complex cases such as liver and pancreatic cancers.
