Baldor Specialty Foods Expands Distribution into North Carolina

With the North Carolina hospitality sector surging, family-owned distributor Baldor Specialty Foods is planting its flag in the state. The company, which serves 16,000 customers along the East Coast, is launching operations in the Triangle, Triad, and Charlotte metro areas to connect local chefs with its network of 1,000 global producers.

The expansion brings a catalog of over 6,000 items to the region, ranging from artisanal dairy and specialty produce to premium proteins sourced through the company’s Golden Meat Co. and Pierless Fish divisions. CEO T.J. Murphy noted that the move is designed to complement the state’s existing culinary reputation with the distributor's high-touch service model. To support the launch, Baldor is installing a dedicated North Carolina-based sales team to bridge the gap between local operators and their broader supply chain.

Operational logistics for the new market include next-day delivery six days a week for orders placed by 8 p.m., with a minimum purchase threshold of $200. Beyond serving restaurants and hotels, the company is actively scouting partnerships with local farmers and makers to integrate North Carolina products into their wider distribution network. This push marks the southernmost point of the company's footprint, extending a reach that currently stretches from Maine to Pennsylvania.
