Hyperscale Data Eyes 125-Megawatt Expansion at Montana Site

Hyperscale Data, Inc. has secured a "will serve" letter from the Lower Yellowstone Rural Electric Cooperative, clearing a potential path for an additional 125 megawatts of power at its Montana facility. The development marks a significant step in the company's strategy to scale infrastructure for AI and Bitcoin mining.

The company currently operates a 10-megawatt footprint at the site, which sits alongside a second nearby facility with identical current capacity. While the utility determination provides a framework for expansion, the project faces a complex road ahead. Success hinges on a series of rigorous requirements, including extensive engineering studies, regulatory approvals, and necessary upgrades to transmission and distribution networks.

Milton "Todd" Ault III, Executive Chairman of Hyperscale Data, characterized the letter as a milestone that validates the company's long-term investment in the region. Although one required transmission line is already slated for completion by 2031, the company acknowledges that no firm timelines exist for the broader infrastructure improvements. Management is now moving to the next phase of evaluation, weighing the technical and commercial hurdles required to turn this potential power allocation into operational capacity.
