The transition from a self-taught teenager reading painting manuals to a nationally recognized artist marks a career milestone for Cassiani, who was born on the island in 1992. USPS art director Derry Noyes discovered the work in a local gallery, selecting the scene for its ability to capture the specific atmosphere of the Chilmark fishing village. The stamp is available exclusively for authorized nonprofit organizations in self-adhesive coils of 3,000 and 10,000.

This release coincides with the Postal Service’s 250th year of operations.
