Sunset World Group Honored with UN Blue Heart Award
Cancun-based hospitality firm Sunset World Group received the Blue Heart Award on June 24, marking the company’s formal recognition by the United Nations for its efforts to combat human trafficking. The biennial distinction highlights organizations that integrate specialized staff training to identify and report exploitation within the tourism sector.

With over 30 years of operations in the Mexican Caribbean, the family-owned group manages six hotels across Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Beyond its social responsibility mandates, the organization has pivoted toward sustainable operations, utilizing wind and geothermal energy to lower its carbon footprint. This latest recognition underscores a broader shift in the company’s strategy, which has historically prioritized environmental conservation alongside its core hospitality offerings.
