General Manager Clay Shafer noted that the update is designed to offer customers a more transparent and consistent experience by explicitly linking the local team to the broader resources and support network of Group 1 Automotive.
Baron MINI Rebrands as MINI of Shawnee Mission
The Merriam-based dealership formerly known as Baron MINI has officially transitioned to the name MINI of Shawnee Mission. The move, effective June 4, 2026, aligns the Kansas location with a nationwide branding initiative from parent company Group 1 Automotive, aimed at standardizing its retail network across the United States.
While the name change reflects MINI’s corporate naming standards, the dealership continues to serve its established client base across Merriam, Overland Park, and the greater Kansas City area. Group 1 Automotive, which has operated the site for nearly two decades, manages a portfolio of 250 dealerships and 37 vehicle brands, utilizing this scale to provide unified service, maintenance, and financing options for local drivers.
