Segway and Whoosh Offer Free Scooter Rides for 2026 World Cup Fans

Thousands of free scooter rides are hitting the streets of Mexico City and Monterrey as Segway and Whoosh team up to manage tournament traffic. By offering complimentary 20-minute trips through July 5, the companies aim to bypass stadium parking bottlenecks and ease the pressure on local transit hubs.

The campaign, accessible via the promo code RIDEWITHSEGWAY, provides users with free unlocking and riding time to navigate between fan zones and match venues. Launched in the capital on June 10, the initiative is expanding into Monterrey to address the surge in travel demand typical of large-scale international events. Both firms position the effort as a test case for integrating micromobility into official transportation planning.

Sebastien Declety, Country Manager for Whoosh Mexico, noted that the partnership serves as a practical alternative for short-distance trips when traditional city infrastructure faces extreme congestion. Zack Yan, Vice General Manager of Segway-Ninebot Commercial Mobility, added that the collaboration underscores a commitment to sustainable transit solutions that remain relevant even after the final whistle blows. By removing cost barriers, the companies hope to establish electric scooters as a primary, rather than secondary, mode of transport for urban dwellers.
