7-Eleven Marks 60 Years of Slurpee with Nationwide Date Night

When the Slurpee turns 60 on July 11, 7-Eleven is ditching traditional anniversary galas for a more casual approach: the "Slurpee Date." The convenience retailer is inviting customers to trade formal plans for icy drinks, partnering with reality star JaNa Craig to turn routine store runs into potential meet-cutes.

For its 99th birthday and the diamond anniversary of its signature frozen drink, 7-Eleven is offering free small Slurpees at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations nationwide. The campaign encourages a low-pressure alternative to over-planned dates, aiming to replicate the nostalgic, easygoing atmosphere that has defined the brand since its 1966 debut.

At select locations, the retailer is elevating the experience with dedicated photo-op benches and professional photographers. Attendees can also receive limited-edition bedazzled double straws designed to facilitate sharing the drink. To complement the festivities, the company is launching a new Mountain Dew Confetti Chill flavor, which blends citrus notes with sweet vanilla icing to mimic the profile of a birthday cake. According to Brandon Brown, Senior Vice President of Fresh Foods and Beverages, the initiative serves as a nod to the generations of customers who have integrated the frozen treat into their personal rituals and family traditions.
